240 - 185. 240. 240 is the number of votes, within the House of Representatives, that passed an amendment that would eliminate millions of government funding for Planned Parenthood clinics.
330. 330 is the number that represents the millions of dollars that will not be used in Planned Parenthood clinics. 330 million dollars would be eliminated for preventative-health services, which include contraception and cancer screenings, at Planned Parenthood clinics across the country.
While it’s true the measure still has to go to the senate, the idea of this passing is outrageous.
Yes, I understand that there a huge debate for pro-life and pro-choice.
Yes, I’m aware of the controversial video of a Planned Parenthood employee giving information about where to receive an abortion for a 14 year old prostitute.
Yes, I agree that people should be more more cautious when having sex.
There is so much controversy and debate about Planned Parenthood and related-topics, but you can’t deny the fact that Planned Parenthood also provides a number of other beneficial services for communities nationwide. So why take the funding away. Planned Parenthood is already restricted from using the funding on abortion, so why completely take away funding from the other services? It doesn’t make sense to me.
People argue that it promotes sexual activities before the “right” age, but who are we kidding? Kids are going to have sexual contact with one another regardless if they have protection or not. Like I said, so much debate about the ethics of Planned Parenthood that it is ridiculous.
Where do you stand? Do you feel that the elimination of the funding for Planned Parenthood (keep in mind, if you’re against abortion, Planned Parenthood is already not allowed to use the money for abortion services) is a good idea? If so, why?
